THE POUND has experienced very little movement in the last week and is trading in the same region as last Monday’s opening levels - but change could come later this week.
The pound to euro exchange rate closed out last week trading in a region little changed from the week’s opening levels.
The World Cup and Donald Trump’s visit to the UK dominated the weekend but events have quietened down now, “with only the Eurozone’s trade figures to contend with,” say experts.
The exchange rate could be set to change towards the end of the week.
After a weekend dominated by sport and President Trump’s visit, it’s looking quite quiet on the news front today, with only the Eurozone’s trade figures to contend with.
“Things will get more interesting for the pound later in the week as the UK publishes employment and inflation numbers.
“Positive results could support Bank of England (BoE) rate hike expectations and boost the pound.”
The pound was placed on the defensive on Friday as confidence in the Prime Minister’s Brexit proposals was further undermined following damning comments from President Trump.
